32. Reflecting on Your UNIQUE GIFT

… your personal unique gift.

Are you gifted?

If you are, what is that special gift that’s been bestowed on you?

I’ve come to believe that each of us who practice the fine art of being human

are, in fact, gifted in some unique way.

Gifts, of course, come in many forms—some of them visibly quite impressive

and others so subtle that they just might fly under everyone’s gift-searching radar.

For me, one of my gifts is, and from birth has been, extreme sensitivity—

soulful, emotional, relational, energetic and especially ‘human’ sensitivity.

In my childhood and early adulthood, I never considered this sensitivity a gift.

In fact, I experienced it as a major weakness and felt it as a real disability—

a set-up for emotional pain, feelings of rejection and severe anxiety.

Later in my life, though, through thousands of experiences, I realized that,

for me to be the empowered lover, healer, transformer, blesser,

inspirer and awakener of others that was my destiny,

I had to be ultra-sensitive … I had to feel everything I was healing …

to experience whatever I was transforming … to love it all deeply and intensely.

Once I became clear about that bigger reality,

I woke up to the fact that this seeming deficit was in truth a true gift.

As a result, I came to experience my ultra-sensitivity as my spiritual power!

Then, and only then, I could embrace it, unite with it and own its mighty power.

What about you?

I’d be willing to bet that, if there is a particular trait about yourself

about which you find yourself even partly self-critical or judgmental,

there’s a very good chance that, if you put it under your ‘truth microscope,’

you’ll see it for what it really is: a genuine, power-filled gift—

perhaps one that has been waiting for the right moment,

maybe even this moment, to show you its true colors.

That consideration might be worth reflecting on.

For now, though, let’s shift our focus just a bit.

Let me ask you about a gift that you already know about,

one that you already recognize as a genuine personal gift.

What is that gift? Please take a moment to get clear about its nature.

As I start to ask you a few questions about your special gift,

I request that you bypass any tendency to think about it intellectually.

Give your interpretation-oriented mind a welcome break.

Instead, open yourself to ‘meet and greet’ this gift in a different way—

by intuitively sensing its nature, sensitively feeling its energy,

quietly listening to its deeper truth,

unifying your spirit with its inner presence.

Even more, consider that this special gift is ready to show itself to you

in a new and bigger way, through a different and up-to-date lens.

While you’re now unifying with it and looking at it through its own lens,

what are you starting to see?

Is there perhaps a new aspect of it that you’re becoming aware of?

Is it trying to help you know something about it,

something that you maybe weren’t so clear about before?

Is this gift perhaps showing you a recently upgraded version of itself?

If we pause long enough to think about it, it’s only understandable

that the nature of your gift changes as you change,

grows as you grow, makes itself different

to reflect and express how you’ve become different.

For me, for example, after years of being a gifted energy healer—

healing people’s symptoms by lifting and transforming their energies—

that energy-focused gift unexpectedly upgraded itself to a higher level,

one of a light-centered, light-empowered gift

characterized by the power of oneness.

This upgrade took place in synch with my own initiation into a state of light.

At that point, I began to see people’s so-called painful symptoms

not so much as pesky problems to be healed

but as yet-to-be-realized facets of self that were simply asking

to be seen differently, then loved, embraced, respected and treasured.

As I let my light connect and unite with people’s painful symptoms,

I witnessed light itself automatically making any needed shifts in their healing.

What about your gift?

Is it currently being upgraded, changed, transformed?

Is it perhaps trying to show you its ‘new and improved’ version?

If so, what does its upgraded form look like?

Is your historical gift showing you a newly created version of itself

so that you can see its new power and embrace its upgraded form?

Is it asking you to let go of any attachment to its previous form,

perhaps so you can embrace and become one with its newer power

in an even more effective and dynamic way?

However you feel moved to answer these questions,

or whether you’re just needing to think about them in more depth,

I ask you to consider this:

If you’ve changed—as, indeed, you have, probably many times over—

it’s only natural that your unique gift has changed along with you.

It may be time for you to release your prior way of thinking about that gift

and ask your gift to show itself, its current version, to you in a new way.

If so, may I suggest that you simply open your mind, heart and spirit:

· to be educated anew

· to be brought up to date about your gift’s current style

· to be taught its new way of being present within you, and

· to be personally empowered by its new capacities,

as you and your special gift find a fresh partnership

in your loving service to yourself and to our human world.

Early on today, I asked you the question: What is your gift?

Perhaps I should also have asked: How is your gift changing?

Or, what does this gift look like now, compared to years ago?

However we ask or respond to these questions,

I thank you for taking this important journey with me today.

Please know that I honor you for embodying this important gift

and for being its faithful expresser.

I deeply support your gift’s ongoing upgrade

as you continue embracing your own ongoing re-creation

in becoming the very quantum human that is your destiny.

As we close our time together,

I wish you and your precious gift every experience of wonder that you both deserve

and every blessing imaginable!
